Are movies and Hindi cinema always on your mind? Do you eat, dream and think Bollywood? Is your life as filmy as Bollywood movies? Well, then this is the time to turn your dream into a reality at Filmy Flavours in Sector 63, Noida – A true Bollywood inspired restaurant, one of the first of its kind restaurant in Noida or rather Delhi NCR. Bollywood with a bit of tadka and masala is what this restaurant strives to offer.
Bollywood posters and filmy quotations throng the walls of the restaurant with film titled table mats and celebrity mannequins giving a feel of being on the sets of a film. The Three Idiots stools are around for people to pose and click selfies. It is a good option for corporate events and the massive buffet spread calls for a sumptuous treat. There are separate sections depicting various eras and Bollywood theme and it really seems that the owner and his team are true fans of DDLJ (Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayengey) since the entire buffet area is adorned with DDLJ posters. The large LCDs on the walls play Bollywood tracks all the time and for a film fanatic, this is what is really needed.
The courteous and pleasing staff will be there at your beck and call and fill your plates with starters without you having to lift your lid and enquire about the next dish. You ask them for as many refills, and you will not find them frowning even once. Their recommendations can also be relied upon as they know their menu well, especially when it comes to ordering beverages. One can see them on their toes from morning till noon which is when we visited the restaurant, to refill the main course dishes as well as replenish the dessert counter every now and then without being told.
The food here comprises a massive buffet spread of seven vegetarian and five non vegetarian starters, soup and salad counter of seven salads and two soups, ten vegetarian and 4 non vegetarian main course preparations, assorted breads and ten desserts. You can enjoy their mocktails by paying a minimum additional amount. The starters and breads are served on the table, while the main course, soups, salads and desserts are displayed in the section where one can self-serve the food. The dishes of menu too are inspired by Bollywood.
Similar in taste to any other Virgin Mojito served at restaurants, it is a refreshing preparation of mint leaves, soda, white non-alcoholic drink, crushed ice and mint syrup. If you are tired, just one sip of this mocktail can rejuvenate you.
Blue in colour and soothing in taste, Blue Curacao is another pleasant mix of Blue Curacao syrup and other accompaniments. The flavour is a mix of sour and sweet helping one to gulp down that last bite of food.
Malai ka Soya
This is a creamy soya chaap starter, an ideal option for vegetarians as the dish is well prepared and the pieces and soft and cheesy. If you enjoy soya, this is a great pick from the starters.
Yo Yo Honey Chilli Potato
A spicy and sweet starter liked by all, is also prepared well here. These crispy potatoes are a great accompaniment with all beverages.
Gabbar Grilled Mushroom is Back
Mushrooms are my personal favourite, and after trying this dish at Film Flavours, my experience was good. The mushrooms are grilled nicely and tossed with cream, for a tandoori and creamy flavour.
Achari Alia Paneer Tikka
This a fiery paneer preparation, hence achari has been added to the name. The paneer is mouth-melting and soft, however, if you do not like too many spices, you may want to avoid this starter after trying one.
Cyprus Crispy Corn
Crispy corn kernels tossed with diced veggies like onion and capsicum along with Chinese spices and sauces tastes great and the after-taste leaves you wanting more of it.
Besides these vegetarian starters, a few of their non-vegetarian ones that deserve mention include Chicken Malai Tikka, Tandoori Kukkad, Spicy Chicken Wings, Ajwaini Amritsari Machli and Garlic fish fingers. For non-vegetarians, these starters are a pure delight.
The main course is not the best here, so one can actually fill themselves up with the starters and soup and may be the desserts as well. Even if you want to try some, go for the regular Indian preparations and the restaurants lacks efficiency in Chinese main course.
The pastry bites in assorted flavours can be a good dessert option here, with the black forest and pineapple topping the list in flavours. Besides these, there are strawberry and butterscotch on display as well.
The kiwi mousse is a rich creamy kiwi based delight for kiwi lovers, however, this dessert is not the best they do at the restaurant.
Gulab Gulab Jamun
These mini deep fried chenna balls dipped in sugar syrup are one the best desserts done here, and if they are served hot the flavour would be enhanced. Since they are tiny goblets, it is easy to eat them in one bite.
Katrina Kesari Phirni
The cold phirni can be a good accompaniment to have with the gulab jamun or even by itself. Rich with dry fruits and rice, this dessert is also a simple one enjoyed by mostly everyone post a hearty meal.
A value for money buffet served for lunch and dinner, this is a place where one can visit in Noida for a sumptuous buffet spread and also a great option to host a party. For kids too, it is a nice place to visit and since there is no alcohol, there is no fear of security.
