Founded in 1972, this Non-Profit Organisation has a special legal entity status which was converted into Independent Administrative Institution in 2003. With the aim of contributing a good International Environment, it has become an Independent Institution on October 1st, 2003. This special legal entity was created with the sole purpose of promoting better understanding among different Nations with Japan, and improvement in good International Environment.

The Organisation is authorized to exchange Cultural values as well as extending support and financial assistance to those institutions that are critically involved in the intellectual exchange and Cultural Programmes through undertaking Sponsorship programs jointly.

With the view to strengthen bond between Japan and India, it also supports the Events regarding Japanese Language, fields pertaining to Japanese Culture as well as Japanese Studies. It also lends its space/hall for the Non-Commercial Activities involving Japanese Culture. Even the partial cost of such events is also borne by this Foundation.

The Foundation also has an extensive library offering collection of books that are specifically related to Japan Cultural exchange programmes as well as International Cultural Exchange. Following are the upcoming events at the foundation:

Click! Japan Photo Contest 2017
Encourages after the mind-blowing response from photo Contest in 2015, the Foundation has announced another Photo Contest this year. Entries shall be accepted from May 1 till July 14 2017 and the winner shall be awarded with special awards.

A Scene At The Sea
A special screening of the Movie – A Scene at the Sea is organised by The Japan Foundation to let its spectator enjoy the fantabulous world of Japanese Cinema. This event is based on the theme of the month- Silent Love and the screening, scheduled on 3rd June 2017 ( 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM)
